DATA NOTICE · REVIEWED 2026-10-04

Your browser workspace data

This notice describes the current referr.im release, the data its features store and the controls that are actually available.

Guest records stay in your browser

Saved programs, comparison selections, matching preferences, private notes, imported reports and your research queue use this site’s browser storage in guest mode. Browser storage belongs to this browser and site origin. This release does not offer sign-in or upload your workspace to an account server.

Backups and recovery copies

Browser data & backup lets you export and restore workspace JSON. Before replacing workspace contents, referr.im writes a separate recovery copy to this browser and reads it back for validation. If that copy cannot be saved, replacement is stopped. Recovery copies stay under their original browser or account owner and remain until you discard them or clear site storage.

You can inspect, copy, request a download or restore a recovery copy. A requested download is not confirmation that a file reached your device. Browser copies and downloaded files are separate; keep an external backup before clearing browser storage or switching devices. Local storage has no application expiry. It can be cleared by you, your browser or device storage policies.

This release does not issue a sign-in session cookie or create server accounts. Your saved programs, private notes, imports and research queue remain in this browser. You can edit or remove those records through the workspace and browser storage controls.

Local drafts, external links and logs

Guide worksheets and the correction form keep drafts in page memory until you leave or reload. Copying and downloading are local actions. The correction form does not upload or send a message. An available email link opens your own email application, where you choose whether to send.

The selected program or comparison mode can appear in a tool URL. Requested URLs can reach the server and browser history. Unexpected application errors may be logged by the server; runtime or hosting logs and their retention have not been separately established here.

On the public site, Google Analytics measures visits and selected interactions only after you choose Allow analytics. You can decline or change your choice through Analytics preferences in the footer. Your choice and analytics cookies expire after 180 days. We send public page paths, program identifiers and link destination hosts, with approximate country, device and traffic-source information. Private notes, search text, form contents and URL query strings are excluded. Advertising personalization, Google signals and automatic form measurement are disabled. Google processes this data under its privacy policy. Withdrawing consent stops collection and clears the site’s analytics cookies; it does not delete events already received by Google. Fonts and cached program icons are served locally. Opening a program or research-source link takes you to another website, which controls its own cookies and privacy practices. Affiliate links are disclosed separately.

The shared source-monitor history contains public research snapshots and editorial review information. It is separate from your private workspace. Avoid putting personal details into shared research records.
